You’ve been asking. We’ve been listening.

For over 35 years, the Racquet Club has been a staple in the community, and we couldn’t have done it without your overwhelming support. So much support, it turns out, that we’re bursting at the seams – and with demands for more space and new programming, we felt there was no better time to start our most ambitious expansion ever.

We’re so excited to bring you RC 2.0. We can’t wait to hear what you think.

The Specifics

The Racquet Club is commencing a 7,500 square foot addition that will include:

  • A new, 1,000 square foot fitness/yoga studio;
  • 1,260 square feet of new weight room space;
  • Increased lounge space and a renovated bar area;
  • New women’s and men’s change rooms;
  • An expanded spin room;
  • Two new therapy rooms;
  • A new deck and hot tub;
  • A children’s play area;
  • New pro shop space and an expanded front entrance/boot room.

What you need to know

How long will the renovation take?

The addition is expected to be open by June 1, 2017.

Excavation on the site of the addition has already begun. Our builder, Konge Construction, says that they expect the foundation to be in by mid-July and the new building closed in by late December. Renovations to existing facilities, including the new change rooms and expanded spin room, will be completed after the new addition is opened to minimize disruptions to our membership.

Will facilities in the Racquet Club be closed during the renovation?

The addition will require the deck and hot tub to be removed during the building stages. Besides that, no facilities will be disrupted during the build of the addition. Renovations to the existing facilities will be staged to minimize disruptions.

Will there be an increase to membership fees?

We are expecting that there will be a modest fee increase due to the increased services and facilities offered by the renovation. Membership dues will remain competitive with other fitness facilities in Yellowknife.

Membership dues will increase for new Racquet Club members effective September 1. Existing members will not pay the increased dues until the bulk of the renovation has been completed.

We will reach out to members shortly with more specific information on the structure of the future due increase.
